My friend, Jackie, from Bookworm Cafe posted her responses to this challenge during July, so it put it on my own radar. I decided to take it up for the month of August. The challenge originated, it appears, with Good Books & Good Wine, so credit for the prompts goes to them!
TODAY’S PROMPT: WHAT’S YOUR BEDTIME READING RITUAL
I had to sit with this one for a few minutes. Do I have a reading ritual at bedtime? Then I realized I sorta do. It is not one that I have put a lot of thought into. It, however, is somewhat there.
Every single night, I tend to be the first out of my partner and I that goes into the bedroom. I go in there to read a few pages of whatever book that I am reading or to play on my tablet one of my matching type of games. After reading about twenty pages, which I am learning I may have been able to only read this many pages at a time due to an eye issue that I am getting my first pair of glasses for, I go into the bathroom and brush my teeth and take care of any other necessities. When I return to the bedroom, I am still alone usually. I tend to read another twenty pages because my eyes are back to a place where I can read. I tend to only be able to read this amount because then is about the time my partner finally decides that it is time to go to bed and I get interrupted in my reading. This happens most nights. It doesn’t bother me, since it is our norm and also allows me to know when it is time to close my book. There are, however, nights that he comes in a few minutes later and I get a few more pages read. Those are wonderful nights. I will then place the book down on the bookshelf next to my bed and go to sleep for the night.
