You know every single year a new Christmas special is released. You know the type: cheesy, romantic, and full of Christmas cheer! Yep, those are the type I am reviewing here.
A Snow Globe Christmas
Directed by Jodi Binstock
Written by Naomi L. Selfman
Starring Alicia Witt, Christina Milian, and Donald Faison and more!
A cynical TV exec looks at the perfect town inside a Christmas globe and is magically transported to it. When she wakes up in a perfect snow-covered town, married to a local woodsman, she discovers it’s not all just a fantasy.
Well, this doesn’t hold up to my “Snowglobe” by a freaking long-shot. What was this depressing mess of a film? This takes the fun of the first film and kinda pops it like a balloon. It is hard to hate a Christmas film for me, which is why it doesn’t get lower than 3 ornaments but COME ON NOW! This film! Alicia Witt, Donald Faison, and Christina Milian couldn’t even save this film. These are all people that I LOVE watching in other things. Here though, it is just a mess. The main character played by Alicia Witt gets hit on the head and ends up in a very different world than the one she knows. This one seems more about a lesson on life and what one should do with it. The woman shouldn’t be career driven, she should want to have a family. Right? Oh lord, the message of this film! I did not like it one bit. Where is the goofiness? The whimsical nature of the original? Then Milian, who is the only returning cast member, doesn’t even play the same character from the original? WHY EVEN HAVE HER IN THE DARN THING? She should have played Angela. Yes, I am mad as hell and I don’t have to take it! A Christmas special making me mad? No! I won’t have it. I won’t see this one again and I will simply act like it doesn’t exist in conjunction to my favorite Christmas special: Poof ya gone from my world forever!
As you may remember, starting this week I reviewed the book that this is a semi-sequel of called “Snowglobe”.
