Tags: The Guilty Reader Book Tag

I was tagged to do this by the wonderful MEGS from “BETWEEN THE PAGES”! You should go to her page, read her posts, and comment to show her a massive amount of love! Thanks for tagging me in this Megs, you are truly a doll!

1. Have you ever re-gifted a book that you’ve been gifted ?

No, if I am given a book I do not re-gift it. It is my own personal copy. I have purchased once the same book that I own for someone else though. I think this is better because it allows me to keep a copy of the book that I originally had without fear that it won’t be returned.

2. Have you ever said you’ve read a book when you haven’t ?

No, in fact I proclaim that there are many “classics” or “often read” books that I never got the chance to read because of life. There is no reason to state ever that you read a book that you haven’t. It doesn’t make you look smarter or cooler because you read a certain book. It just means you read a book. The beauty of books that there are many and every single one deserves to actually be read.

3. Have you ever borrowed a book and not returned it ?

Yes, that is the simple answer. From a library during a difficult time. I think I still have it on my own physical shelves now. I also kept a book from someone, but it was largely because I told them when they loaned it to me that I was moving and that I probably would not see them again, but they were like OMG it is fine just take it.

4. Have you ever read a series out of order ?

I don’t think I have. I may have read a mystery book series that I was not aware of there was an order for once, but not that I actually remember. I am pretty meticulous about this these days about making sure I check if a book is part of a larger series before I even read the first page.

5. Have you ever spoiled a book for someone ?

Yes, I spoil the crap out of books for my friend ALEXIS (from Alexis’ Treasures), but this is because she does not read usually. She is more of a toy collector, so she is a safe person that usually won’t mind hearing all the spoilers of a book. I sometimes talk to my partner, Brandon, about aspects of a book. More like “I know this is going to happen” and then when it does I go back and tell him that it happened. I sometimes feel like my reviews are a bit spoilery as well since I tell what the main focus of the book is about, but I try to avoid any out and out spoilers on aspects that would upset me if someone told me in advance.

6. Have you ever doggy eared a book ?

School books only. I cannot do this to a book I own myself. Why would I do this? It is cruel and unusual punishment for a book. I would want to buy a bookmark for anyone that does do this. I am serious. Just don’t do it please!

7. Have you ever told someone you don’t own a book when you do ?

No, this is something that I am very honest about. If I don’t want someone to have my copy of the book I will tell them if the library has a copy or tell them the reason that I won’t lend out my own copy of it. Usually it is because the book has a sentimental value to me.

8. Have you ever skipped a chapter or a section of a book ?

No, I believe that you have to read every single word before you can truly judge a book. This is why I do not have a DNF list. The only book that I have even put to the side ever is “Fablehaven” and it was only because I realized I had changed as a reader and it was the book that helped me to realize that.

9. Have you ever bad mouthed a book you actually liked?

I would not call it “bad mouthing”, but I have pointed out the negatives of a book to a person that I think would not like a certain book when they have asked me about it. This is especially true if the person is a friend and I know their tastes. They may see that I read a book and think they should read it because it is “popular” or some other reason and sometimes I point out the flaws, so they do not feel like they are obligated to read a book I know they would hate. Otherwise, why would I bad-mouth a book that I adore? It does not make sense. I want MORE people to read the books I love at this point, reading is not as popular as it once was. Why would I want to stop anyone that wants to read from reading?

You know me, I don’t tag people in these tags ever because that just isn’t who I am. So if you see this and want to do, GO AHEAD! Heck, even link it below so I can see that you did it if you do. I love seeing other responses to these tags.

Thank you! I don’t know how not to be this honest, so I will just keep on doing it Cassie style 😉

Different lives? 🙂 Some of the places I have been have caused me to keep books, sometimes unintentionally. I am glad though that you haven’t had these experiences and been able to return books you have borrowed.
