So I have a new way I am doing my TBR at home. This is so I can refocus back on my own books, but also because I want a fun and creative way to engage my brain with actually reading the books that I want to read. The way I am doing it?
I created a poster board with the five books I am going to read during the month of April. I will make one for May and etc. as well! This allows me to have something I can look at for my reading and know what I want to personally read. The bottom thing next to five says “Bubbbalah Choice.” Bubbalah is the cutesy nickname for my partner. Every month he is going to select one book for me to read. The thumbnail pictures will be removed every month, at the end of it of course. I will add the new TBR at the beginning of the month. I promise I will take a picture of it and let you all know what is on the poster board for that month. How will I mark them off on the post board?
See that lettering where it says “Cassie Reads”? The package of lettering came with an x. That x is going to serve as my little note to self that I read the book and that I have finished it. With this though I want to also keep a running total of books that I have read from my own shelf. In order to do this what am I doing?
This little sheet of paper is going on the side of one of my bookshelves. I am considering making this just a list of any book that I read or having multiples where I say what category (my own shelf, arc, kindle, or library) the item is from. I am doing this also so I can have a place where I can see if I reviewed a book or not as well. I will be able to go to my website and see if it has been reviewed. More ways to be accountable equals lots of WOO HOO for me! I have been trying to find ways to engage with my writing and defeat some hindrances that I have had recently. I think these things will help me in the overall process.
What do you think of these two things that I am utilizing to engage better with reading?
Oh my April TBR of five books is:
- Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
- The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier
- Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff
- Beyond the Chocolate War by Robert Cormier
- Dirk Gently’s Holistic Agency by Douglas Adams (Bubbalah’s Choice selection)
Also, due to school work this week, I am announcing a one week hiatus! This is because by Saturday I have to have finished a 25 page paper over an organization. It is best that I focus on that this week! I will return NEXT Monday with new content!
